To the Editors:

I was pleased to read Michael J. Lewis’s laudatory review of the new American Wing galleries at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (“American art in New York,” March 2012), but for the record I would like to correct his presumption that I personally placed every painting, sited every sculpture! The staff of the American Wing works as a team, and the brilliant new installation of paintings and sculpture Lewis describes is the product of a group of talented American art curators working together over many, many months: Kevin Avery, Carrie Barratt, Elizabeth Kornhauser, Thayer Tolles, and Barbara Weinberg. I could not have done it without them.
