Sixth Edmund Burke Award Gala

Statesman, theorist, and philosopher: The work of Edmund Burke (1729-1797) is as pertinent today as it has ever been. Last year, celebrating our thirty-sixth season, The New Criterion honored Victor Davis Hanson with the sixth annual Edmund Burke Award for Service to Culture and Society. This year we are delighted to honor Andrew Roberts with the seventh iteration of the award. Please join us on April 4, 2019 as we celebrate his work at a gala dinner at The Metropolitan Club in New York City.

On September 6, the Editors of  The New Criterion and staff of Encounter Books welcomed Friends, Young Friends, and authors to Encounter Books’ office to mark the start of another season. 

Guests toasted the new season with punch, hors d’ouevres, and good cheer.

Young Friends Dinner with Dominic Green

On March 7, the Editors of  The New Criterion sat down for an evening of food and discussion with a group of Young Friends supporters at The Knickerbocker Club.

The guest speaker of the evening was Dominic Green, a prolific contributor to The New Criterion, who discussed the enduring relevance and success of quality print magazines in the so-called “death of print” era. Green is also a regular contributor to The Wall Street Journal, The Weekly StandardThe SpectatorNational ReviewThe Atlantic, and other various publications.
