A note on Charles Ives.
He went to Yale
To the Editors:
Regarding the review of the new biography of John Alden Carpenter in your December issue: It comes through vividly to the mind’s eye. There’s grizzled old Charles Ives whacking Terry Teachout’s shoulder with his yellowed Herald Tribune, angrily shouting: “Ya Goddamn prevaricator! Why I didn’t even go to that Harvard University.”
