To the Editors:
I am most grateful for Dan Hofstadter’s generous remarks about my part in writing the catalogue of the François Boucher exhibition in his perceptive article upon Diderot’s stance towards Boucher and Chardin. Could I, however, correct the record by pointing out that I was only one of the four co-organizers of the exhibition, which was conceived and brought to fruition by J. Patrick Marandel of the Detroit Institute of Arts?
