YOUNG FRIENDS EVENT: Bushwick Beat Nite with James Panero

The editors invite the Young Friends to an insider tour of the art event of Bushwick with Beat Nite curator James Panero. Produced by Jason Andrew and organized by the Bushwick non-profit Norte Maar, Beat Nite is an evening gallery crawl featuring James's selection of ten "all star" alternative art spaces in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

OPEN EVENT: Roger Kimball and James Panero on The Future of Conservatism

Roger Kimball and James Panero will participate in panel discussions on "The Future of Conservatism." The conference will be held at Yale University on Friday, October 18 beginning at 1 PM and is hosted by The William F. Buckley Junior Program, devoted to promoting serious discussion of conservative principles on Yale's campus.

 

Other conference participants will include Jonah Goldberg, Michael Barone, Craig Shirley, Professor Robert P. George, Bret Stephens, Neal B. Freeman, Rich Lowry, Heather Mac Donald, Professor Steven Smith, Professor E. Donald Elliott, Linda Bridges, and Larry Perelman.

FRIENDS AND YOUNG FRIENDS EVENT: A conference on "Reagan, Thatcher & The Special Relationship"

The editors cordially invite the Friends and Young Friends to The New Criterion’s annual conference with The Social Affairs Unit, a London-based think tank. This year, the conference will discuss “Reagan, Thatcher & The Special Relationship.” The event will take place on Friday October 4, beginning at 8:00 am and ending at 4:30 pm.

Please join the editors for a special evening of poetry with George Green, winner of The New Criterion Poetry Prize. The event, a reception and poetry reading, will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. Doors will open at 6:30 pm with a brief reading at 7:00 pm, followed by refreshments. Lord Byron’s Foot by Mr. Green is the twelfth winner of the annual New Crite­rion Poetry Prize. This is a Friends and Young Friends of The New Criterion event. Space is limited. Please join the editors for a special evening of music with Larry Perelman and Eric Simpson on Wednesday March 20, 2013. Doors will open at 6:00 pm with an hour-long performance at 6:30 pm, followed by refreshments. Mr. Perelman, a Young Friend of The New Criterion, is a pianist who has played recitals for William F. Buckley Jr. Mr. Simpson, who plays the violin, contributes music criticism to The New Criterion’s weblog.
