The New Criterion is pleased to announce that George Green, the winner of the 2012 New Criterion Poetry Prize for his collection Lord Byron’s Foot, has been named one of eight winners of the 2014 Arts and Letters Awards in Literature. The awards are presented each year by the American Academy of Arts and Letters to “honor exceptional accomplishment in any genre” and come with a $7,500 prize. Recipients are selected by a committee of writers, which this year included Louis Begley, Louise Glück, Alison Lurie, Francine Prose, Mark Strand, and Charles Wright. Green, along with the other winners, will be presented with the award at the Academy’s annual Ceremonial in May in New York.

Green’s poetry that has been published in The New Criterion can be read here. Copies of Lord Byron’s Foot are available on Amazon.
