Sandall’s Zapata plan

Roger Sandall writes in from down under:
Enjoyed the little piece on Africa. Just for
your interest, may send something of my own about the place from
Encounter.I once made a film in Guerrero with an anthropologist determined
to confirm his deep belief in the virtues of communalism, Zapata’s reforms,
and living close to the soil. On our last day, the Indian who had figured in
countless romantic shots of Man on the Land came to me and asked if I could
do anything to help him get to California. Apparently his idea of land was
the Imperial Valley.
