Strange bedfellows

Another mind-reeling program to get the people psyched on literature. This specimen speaks for itself:
Aim High, Live Classic. It’s the exciting program that highlights the unique connection between basketball’s greatest stars and literature’s most enduring works.
The men and women of the NBA and WNBA are compelling personalities whose lives exemplify the modern heroic struggle, themes found in Penguin Classics’ great literary works.
Well, if you say so. The site also profiles four basketball heroes, revealing height, weight, and favorite classic. Dwyane Wade (6’4”, 212 lbs.), for example, likes Pride and Prejudice. The most amusing aspect, though, must be the heroes’ photographed poses, glancing up with hilarious artificiality, as if to say, “Oh, didn’t notice you come in! You’ve caught me reading. A book.”
There is also a tour. “Don’t miss these limited opportunities to meet your favorite player, and share with them your favorite Classic.”
