Jodi Kantor and The Boss

Bruce Springsteen at Giants Stadium may be big news to many people, but is it truly “one of the biggest stories in open-air entertainment since the Christians and the lions”? According to one news source it is, and, no, we’re not talking Rolling Stone magazine. Welcome to today’s New York Times, where under the direction of arts editor Jodi Kantor The Boss is the boss and pop culture is king. Now don’t get me wrong, I love The Boss, but wouldn’t even diehard fans admit that an encore of “Born to Run” lacks the cultural importance of, let’s say, the history of Christian martyrdom? Then again, I’m not from New Jersey.
