Funding Follies
[Posted 9:30 PM by Stefan Beck]
Several days ago, Armavirumque commented on a discipline known as ’whiteness studies.’ Unlike Black or Native American studies, which exist to celebrate their subjects, ’whiteness studies’ seeks to shame its subject matter. Of course, that’s little different from what many college courses are about these days.
Consider the case of the federally funded international (primarily Middle Eastern) studies programs under examination by the House Subcommittee on Select Education–programs established to do nothing less than vilify American foreign policy.
NRO’s Stanley Kurtz has led the charge against this abuse of Title VI funding. (See this and this.) Today Daniel Pipes joins the fray in a New York Post column. Also worth reading is this piece from FrontPage about the patently anti-American activities afoot at Cornell University.
